Fibro Relief

There is no cure for Fibromyalgia. There is not even a source of guaranteed relief like so many other illnesses have.

Therefore – as sufferers we have to find our own.

This page is dedicated to sharing different kinds of things that have helped attribute to relief from my fibro pain. Again, this pain never goes away, these are simply ways to help make the coping process easier (at least they did for me).

  • Medical Marijuana/Cannabis
    • This is my favorite source of relief for SO many reasons.
      • Targeted relief: you can get cannabis that is developed to wake you up (sativa) or to help you find relaxation and sleep (indica), or a hybrid of the two.
      • Variety of Forms: flower bud, edibles, wax concentrates, oil cartridges, disposable pens, vapor, topicals and natural health (beauty, bath)
      • Strain selection: you can find specific strains that help with your symptoms
      • Effects: from energetic to sleepy and relaxed, you can select from different strains that both help your symptoms, and provide the desired effect.

  • Stretching
    • Seems impossible to do on most days, but I’ve found that on the days that I do my stretching in the morning, I have less shooting pains in my legs throughout the day. Some simple stretches to start:Screen Shot 2017-10-03 at 12.00.58 PM
  • Breathing
    • When I did a program at Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), I learned the importance and benefits that come along with focusing on your breathing.
    • I think one of the biggest misconceptions I learned is that chest breathing is actually not beneficial, you should be breathing in and out through your diaphragm for the most benefits. Screen Shot 2017-10-03 at 12.04.40 PM
    • Another huge misconception I learned is that you are NOT suppose to breathe out through your mouth when exhaling (contrary to what I feel like I was taught my entire life!)Diaphragm-Breathing
